Day 10: Natchez Trace

Well, for some reason, this parkway won't let us walk anything less than 15 miles a day. Despite the rain and heavier than usual traffic, we still marched 17 miles to the outskirts of the greater Jackson area. We are anxious for tomorrow for two reasons: one is that we will cross mile marker 100, and the second is that we have hot showers and a fluffy bed waiting for us at the luxurious Days Inn resort. The hotel is especially welcome since an Arctic cold front will push into the area tomorrow, bringing nighttime lows into the low 20s. Brr, glad we could outsmart that one!

In other news, we have no good photos since it rained all day, but we did see a really cool fox about 10 yards away from us. Also, we chatted with some Park Service firefighters, one of whom detailed on Chris's old fire crew in Idaho.... Small world!

For now, we're toasty in our tent with tea, getting rested for another big push into town tomorrow.

  1. Hey! In Jackson is Mississippi's Museum of Natural History, which has red, white, and blue catfish... kind of awesome
